137 startups have applied for B2B accelerator Startup Wise Guys Riga

The newly launched Riga program of the leading B2B accelerator in Europe “Startup Wise Guys” (SWG) has received overall 137 applications from 20 countries, dominantly from the Baltics and their neighbors. Startups from Ukraine have been second most active submitting 25 applications to “SWG Riga powered by Lattelecom”. The program will start on September 19th providing 8 of these applicants with initial funding and access to 3 months long, intensive training.

Most of the applicants are early stage companies representing such B2B domains as mobile, commerce and enterprise software.

“One of our goals opening a Startup Wise Guys program in Riga, was to continue boosting the ecosystem in the region, especially increasing the number of applications from Latvia. The results of application process show that we are going in the right direction. A recent road trip visiting countries such as Ukraine, Belarus, Hungary and Lithuania got us even more excited, seeing the creativity and determination of the young entrepreneurs ready to do their part in excelling. Now our team and mentors are facing a tough job of selecting eight teams we want to invest our time, know-how, resources and energy in,” says Cristobal Alonso, SWG Global CEO.

“SWG Riga powered by Lattelecom” top 20 applicants will then be participating on an intensive 2 days event with mentoring, interviews and activities together with more than 25 mentors and investors while having the chance to meet the accelerator team, see premises and the local ecosystem. Only the best 8 will get the chance to go through 3 months long accelerator program with access to top notch international mentors, investors and alumni companies, strong curriculum and modern co-working premises.

“SWG Riga powered by Lattelecom” is the first startup accelerator program in Latvia to be run in autumn 2016.
