The Latvian antimicrobial coatings additive company ALINA has begun work with Accelerace Latvia (represented by Enixus) on an acceleration process that will speed ALINA’s go-to-market, partnership, and finance strategies.

ALINA is a Latvian company working in the coatings industry and has created state of the art antimicrobial building material protection. In general, this new material will prevent a range of microbes, fungi, and moulds from growing on the exterior surfaces of buildings protected by coatings supplemented with the additive. This saves building owners significant time and money in their building maintenance. The material has been extensively tested and is currently being used in test sites in Latvia. The antimicrobial clay-based additive is organic and non-hazardous. It can be used in a range of coatings products – from paints to plasters and other exterior coatings.

ALINA’s management team has three experienced and energetic members. Solvita Kostjukova -  is the CEO, an entrepreneur and scientist. She also co-founded the social-enterprise Lude. Ģirts Ozols is the CFO and an experienced manager, with 20+ years in business. Ģirts has well developed expertise in partnerships, financials and management. Davids Štēbelis, the CMO , brings deep competence in product development, marketing and business strategy. He is a  co-founder of the e-book company Fabula. Tom Schmit from Accelerace says, “We chose ALINA for this process because the team is extremely strong and the technology is interesting and has lots of potential applications.”

Accelerace Latvia is a joint venture of Enxius Baltics and Accelerace in Denmark.  Accelerace has accelerated the development of 265 companies and created more than 1200 jobs. In addition to the Accelerace accelerator, they operate the Next Step Challenge. Accelerace has been ranked among the Top 10 most active accelerators and investors in Europe in The European Accelerator report by Fundacity.

Tom Schmit and Greg Mathers are the Accelerace Latvia coaches who will work with ALINA. In addition to their business and teaching experience (both teach at RTU Riga Business School) they also have specialized business development experience from Accelerace training. Morten Heide from Accelerace in Denmark will lead the process in general. He has more than 20 years of experience in developing science based businesses.

The process will be at least 5 months long and involve extensive and regular consultation with local and international coaches plus access to the extensive Acclerace network.  In addition, ALINA management will attend valuable seminars and other events.

Morten Heide says, “This programme will stretch the team in a very positive way. We will have them working every day on the specific jobs that will get them to market and bring them the investment they need to go quickly to larger markets.”

Accelerace and ALINA have joined forces to bring great Latvian science to international markets.
