International BootCamp on Smart Cities for startups and talents to be held in Jurmala

DEMOLA Latvia and PULSE Hub is hosting the first BootCamp of BELT (Baltic Entrepreneurship Laboratories) project that kicks off on Monday, June 6, in Jurmala.

Startups, teams and individuals from Finland, Sweden and Latvia will be working on their business ideas for Smart City development supported by international experts and coaches.

Such Latvian startups as Connection Codes (MOSES) and Kristaps Banga, Go VR! Studio (Vividly) and Gunita Kuļikovska, MAZZY and Viesturs Šeļmanovs-Plešs, Babyroom.lv and Laura Bluša, as well as other teams and talented Latvians will be represented in Jurmala.

During the BootCamp, which will be held in Jurmala City Museum (Tirgoņu street 29) on June 6-8, the participants will have workshops, training and coaching sessions with international experts, “treasure hunting tips” from all involved countries, as well as a field trip to Riga IT Demo Center, where participants will be joined by such Latvian businesses as CUBE, CatchBox and others, as well as representatives from TecHub Riga and Business Incubator of University of Latvia. After the BootCamp, the best teams will be provided further coaching.

BELT BootCamp objectives are:

  • to generate new business entities across boarders;
  • to connect startups, teams or individuals with the most relevant mentors, investors and partners from Finland, Sweden and Latvia;
  • to discover and plant new business cases related to Smart City development;
  • spin-out BootCamp for bigger companies; Talent pool and market entry opportunities for startups/teams; Partnership and learning experience for talents;
  • for anyone with a new, early-stage idea it’s good way to have a kick-start for a new idea, find a team/individuals, get boost of inspiration for the new concept, mingle and network, take part in team-building activities, coaching and workshops.

The next BELT BootCamps are planned to be held in Helsinki and Tampere, Finland, and Norrköping, Sweden.

BELT is supported by Interreg Central Baltic programme. The lead partner of the project is The Baltic Institute of Finland, Tampere, Finland.
