The customizable Wi-Fi display Displio has been delivered to all of its Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign supporters and is also now available for purchase on-line, Jānis Palkavnieks from the Displio team informs.
The first to order the Displio devices through Kickstarter received them already in September of last year, and now this process has concluded. On-line sales of Displio devices have been launched, and can now be purchased by anyone at "getdisplio.com".
The device created in Latvia exceeded the necessary USD 65,000 (EUR 59,409) worth of funding through its Kickstarter campaign, collecting a total of USD 154,814 (EUR 141,498) from 1,113 supporters.
The Displio is a 2.7 inch E-ink screen, and is visually similar to a miniature alarm clock. The device itself is equipped with a speaker, a built-in batter, as well as sensors which determine its placement so that the screen is being correctly displayed. The Displio is simple to use and can be configured to almost any desire. It can display reminders, incoming emails, weather, as well as Twitter and Facebook notifications.
Displio connects to the web via a WiFi connection, but can be programmed and configured using a smartphone app on both the iOS and/or Android operating systems.
As Palkavnieks explains, the device’s user can choose himself what is being displayed on the screen. For example, parents can set the device to show the average grade their children are getting at school, get news updates from various news agencies, and much, much more. The Displio is available in seven colors, as well as a wood casing, and has a simple and elegant design which blends in perfectly in any type of interior.
