Six Latvian startups participate in Seed Forum Riga Investor Conference

The 17th Seed Forum Riga international investment conference took place at the Citadele conference hall on Thursday, October 14, where 10 startups from four European countries presented their projects.

Participating in the Seed Forum Riga investment session were Paytailor from Estonia, Nornir and Zeipt from Norway, Dirica from Finland, as well as six Latvian startups: Town Escape, Orocon, Ernest, Rention, TactileEyesight and Recolo.

The event was opened by Norwegian Ambassador to Latvia Steinar Egil Hagen, and the Norwegian Embassy also hosted the evening reception at the ambassador’s residence on K. Barona Street.

Real estate management platform Rention CEO Aleksandrs Zelinskis said after the conference, the opportunity to participate in such a high-profile investor forum opened up new opportunities for his company’s development.

“New contacts and experience shared by other participants, as well as the opportunity to prove viability of the Rention idea to the investors in attendance is another step in the company’s growth,” commented Zelinskis, who at the forum presented the idea of his startup, a housing management system, its achievements and further goals.

On the other hand, Tactile Eyesight co-founder Mareks Matisons said that his company, which is building global tactile 3D printed book platform for children with visual impairment, had now entered a new stage in its development, actively looking for investments.

“We have created a prototype of our product and continue development of our 3D printed book platform. Until the next major startup forum, Slush that will take place in Finland at the beginning of December, we will be visiting potential clients and popularizing the Tactile Eyesight offer,” explained Matisons.

“Participation in Seed Forum was a valuable experience and, taking into consideration the specific format of the forum, an opportunity to significantly improvethe quality of presentations of our business project,” added Matisons.

Seed Forum Riga is the oldest investment conference in Latvia that, since 2008, is organized twice a year, in the fall and spring, to present to Latvian venture capital investors Latvian and foreign startups looking for investments necessary for further development of their business projects.

Seed Forum International Foundation, established in 2001, is a global network of national not-for-profit foundations and national representatives in more than 40 countries. The Seed Forum process has the objective of providing competence within investor readiness and investor matchmaking opportunities for private investors, seed funds, venture funds, private equity funds, corporate venture investors, family offices and financial intermediaries.

Seed Forum aims to become the main venture capital event in every country it is represented.
